By public transport

From Speyer Central Station/‘Bahnhofsvorplatz’ stop: take bus 561 to the ‘Domplatz/Speyer’ stop.
On weekdays, the bus runs every 10 minutes until 8 pm. At weekends, the 561 service runs every 10 minutes until 6 pm.

Please note: The fairground is a hard-sand surface, which is generally easily accessible but may present difficulties for wheelchair users depending on the weather.

Museum entrance

When standing in front of the museum, the step-free entrance is on the left-hand side of the museum building. Signs indicate the direction. There is a bell at the side entrance; our staff will be happy to open the door for you and accompany you to the museum ticket office and the exhibition rooms.

Exhibition rooms

All exhibition rooms are accessible without steps. The exception is the last two rooms in the left wing of the Wine Museum, which cannot be remodelled due to their listed status. We ask for your understanding.

Wheelchairs and folding chairs are available to borrow from us.
The toilet for people with disabilities is located on the ground floor near the lockers.

You are welcome to eat and drink your own food and drink in our picnic area. Eating and drinking in the exhibition spaces is not permitted.

Spacious lockers are available free of charge for school classes and nursery groups. You can collect the key when you register at reception.
To reach the cloakroom and lockers, please follow the signs in the museum.

In accordance with the museum rules, please do not take bulky or wet items such as umbrellas, rainwear, rucksacks and carrier bags into the exhibition rooms. These items must be stored in a locker or in the cloakroom.

Shopping bags larger than A4 size (approx. 21 x 30 cm) must also be stored in a locker. Handbag-sized rucksacks up to A4 size are permitted, provided they are carried over the shoulder.

If in doubt, please ask a member of staff. The Historical Museum of the Palatinate accepts no liability for items handed in or left in storage.
