We Love PLAYMOBIL

October 1, 2023 – September 15, 2024

Herzlichen Glückwunsch! Happy birthday! Bonne anniversaire! The beloved toy PLAYMOBIL is celebrating a very special birthday, giving the reason for a unique family exhibition all about the toy figures beloved all over the world: The interactive show “We Love PLAYMOBIL. 50 Jahre Spielgeschichte(n)”, developed in collaboration with PLAYMOBIL-artist Oliver Schaffer, will open its doors on October 1, 2023.

Fascinating dioramas, videos and numerous play stations will enable big and small visitors to the museum to explore miniature PLAYMOBIL worlds on 1,000 square meters. Scenes of current PLAYMOBIL themes, such as “Adventures of Ayuma”, as well as historical themes, which teach history in a fun way, will be on display. These will include scenes of Roman life, ancient Egypt and Samurai in Japan. Custom-made projected installations replete with light effects and animations will bring the individual PLAYMOBIL worlds to life. Constellations and galaxies above the “Space Western” scene will move choreographed to music, for instance.

The colorful and always cheerful PLAYMOBIL figures have stood for fun and creativity for half a century now. Over three billion of the 7.5 cm toy figures have found their way into countless children’s rooms all over the world since 1974. Were all these figures to hold hands, they would encircle our earth almost four times.

The interactive family exhibition at the Historical Museum of the Palatinate is an invitation to a journey through fifty years of toy history, giving an impression of the virtually unlimited variety of opportunities the toy system opens to its fans. You are encouraged to join in and explore everything in the exhibition!
