In 2025, the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Viticulture, the German Winegrowers’ Association and the Rhineland-Palatinate Chamber of Architects launched the architecture prize. A panel of experts selected twelve nominations from 25 entries – three prizes, five honours and four commendations.
Sustainable and resource-efficient renovation of existing buildings is particularly well represented in this group, with ten projects. The diversity of the sector is evident in the range of building projects: structures for wine production and distribution are represented just as much as projects relating to wine gastronomy and wine tourism.

“Building for wine-growing businesses places the highest demands on the functionality, technology and design of the construction projects. The symbiosis of wine and architecture harbours great innovative potential that sets new standards for construction in general,” says Joachim Rind, President of the Koblenz Chamber of Architects, who was a member of the jury.

The travelling exhibition, which showcases all twelve nominations, is now on display at the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer, following stops in Mainz and Koblenz.

Admission to the exhibition is free.
