Collection Exhibitions
Until 2019, we showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Palatinate in our collection exhibitions. These included world-famous artefacts such as the Centaur Head from Schwarzenacker, the Golden Hat from Schifferstadt and the Procession to Hambach Castle. At present, however, the collection exhibitions ‘Prehistory’, ‘Roman Period’ and ‘Modern Times’ must remain closed due to extensive refurbishment work.
This is due to the refurbishment of our extension, which the Historical Museum of the Palatinate is carrying out over the next few years. Once the project is complete, you can look forward to a modern new building with a comprehensively redesigned permanent exhibition.
In 2024, the renowned architectural practice Wandel Lorch Götze Wach from Frankfurt am Main was selected to lead the renovation of the extension following an architectural competition. We are now in the process of taking the next steps.
Until then, our objects not currently on display can often be seen outside our museum – if you’d like to know where, simply subscribe to our newsletter or pop over to our Facebook page! We look forward to reopening the collection exhibitions together with you in the near future!
