House rules

(1) We welcome visits from children, young people and adults.

(2) The duty to supervise children lies exclusively with their parents or guardians, as well as accompanying persons such as the person responsible for the group, teaching staff or educators. Children under the age of 12 are only admitted if accompanied by their parents or an accompanying person.

(1) The admission prices and opening hours of the Historical Museum of the Palatinate are determined by the museum management. They can be viewed at the cash desk and from the service staff.

(2) In the event of overcrowding or for special reasons, the museum may be closed to the public in whole or in part.

(1) Lockers and cloakrooms are available for storing clothing and bags, for which the museum accepts no liability.

(2) For conservation and safety reasons, the exhibition rooms cannot be entered with bulky or wet items such as umbrellas, rainwear and rucksacks.
These items must be deposited in the locker or cloakroom. The same applies to carrier bags larger than DIN A3 (approx. 30 x 42 cm). In case of doubt, the service staff will decide.

(3) Pushchairs (without larger bags on or in the pushchair) and wheelchairs (both manual and electric wheelchairs suitable for indoor use), rollators and other medically justified walking aids may be used in our rooms. For the duration of your visit, the
Museum will provide you with wheelchairs, buggies and mobile folding seats free of charge on request for the duration of your visit. For safety reasons, the museum reserves the right to regulate access with pushchairs etc.

Baby changing facilities can be found in the disabled and ladies' toilets on the ground floor and in the 2nd basement.

If you find lost items in the museum, we kindly ask you to hand them in at the service desk in the museum foyer. Lost property will be disposed of in accordance with the statutory provisions.

The museum is a smoke-free facility in accordance with the Rhineland-Palatinate Non-Smoker Protection Act. This means that smoking is not permitted anywhere in the museum. This also applies to the café in the Forum.

It is the task of the service staff to ensure that the house rules are observed. We therefore ask you to follow the instructions of the service staff. If the house rules or the instructions of the service staff are not followed, the persons concerned may be prohibited from remaining in the building.

In the event of a medical emergency or an alarm, please contact the supervisory staff and remain calm. Please follow the instructions of the supervisors, the exhibition attendants and the fire brigade. Use of the lifts is not permitted in the event of an alarm. Emergency exits are only to be used in an emergency and exits, stairs, passageways and escape routes are to be kept clear at all times for safety reasons.

(1) In order not to damage the exhibits, we would ask you not to touch them. The exhibits that are not allowed to be touched are labelled. Please leave any objects that could pose a danger to the exhibits at the cloakroom.

(2) Our museum offers various guided tours. Our experienced team of guides will be happy to take you on a journey of discovery through the museum. Guided tours with external guides are not permitted without prior written authorisation from the museum.

(3) Out of consideration for other visitors, we ask that you switch mobile phones to silent mode or use appropriate headphones. Telephoning is not permitted in the exhibition rooms.

(4) Animals may not be taken into the museum. Certified assistance dogs (recognised as aids in accordance with Section 13 of the German Federal Disability Discrimination Act (BVG)) are an exception. Appropriate identification must be presented.

(5) Our museum café in the Forum offers a wide range of food and drinks. A picnic room is also available. Unless otherwise signposted, eating and drinking is not permitted in the other rooms of the museum.

(6) Teachers, persons responsible for the group and legal guardians are requested to ensure that children and young people in their company behave appropriately and remain with the group.

(7) In the event of a theft alarm, the service staff in the museum foyer are authorised to close all exits except the main exit so that the police can carry out a check on visitors.

(8) We kindly ask you to refrain from any behaviour that is detrimental to security and order in the museum. You are liable for any damage caused by your behaviour.

(1) In principle, photography for private purposes without flash, tripod or selfie stick and filming without additional lighting and tripod is permitted in the collection exhibitions, in the museum courtyard and in the foyer.

(2) Photography and filming in our special exhibitions is only permitted with the prior written authorisation of the Historisches Museum der Pfalz. Exceptions for individual exhibitions will be announced in the exhibition rooms.

(3) Written authorisation from the Historisches Museum der Pfalz is required for commercial or editorial photography, film and audio recordings.
