"Horst Hamann - Imperial Cathedral of Speyer. Vertical Photographs"
Photographer Horst Hamann became famous for his photographs of New York skyscrapers. Now he has taken on the almost 1000-year-old Speyer Cathedral. In a project organised by the European Imperial Cathedral Foundation in Speyer, he photographed the Romanesque cathedral in his characteristic style, always focussing on the vertical. The result is photographs in extreme portrait format that open up a new perspective on Speyer's landmark.
Vertical Autumn in Speyer - Autumn perspectives in portrait format
Creative photo competition for young people
Together with us, the city of Speyer is organising a special photo competition: Under the title "Vertical Autumn in Speyer - Autumn perspectives in portrait format", young people are invited to capture their individual view of autumn in Speyer.
The competition will take place from 18 August to 18 October 2025 and is aimed at all young people between the ages of 14 and 18. The aim is to show Speyer in a new light - whether through impressive architecture, lively city scenes or hidden places that characterise the cityscape. The photos should be taken in vertical portrait format (format requirement: 9:16) and be orientated towards the formal aesthetics of Horst Hamann's famous vertical photography. Further information on the submission, tips and inspiration for realisation canbefound on the Speyer Economic Development Agency website.
