The exhibition takes a look at a hitherto unexamined private side of this exceptional woman, who is as fascinating as ever and still influential even fifty-six years after her death in 1962.

Starting on December 16, the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer will be presenting 300 select individual items from the personal estate of Marilyn Monroe and contemporaries, which are now part of Ted Stampfer’s exclusive private collection, the largest collection of its kind and makeup in the world.

Exquisite articles of clothing, accessories, care and beauty products, props, personal letters, and documentary clips and photographs will be on display in this combination for the first time ever in Germany. Items from international collectors will round out the exhibition.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to explore Marilyn Monroe’s world and follow the most important stages of her career and life. They will come across exceptional exhibited objects that both document her life and impact and illuminate her pursuit of emancipation.

The Historical Museum of the Palatinate wishes to express its gratitude to Ted Stampfer, the lender to and external curator of this exhibition, for his collaboration and the objects on loan.
